BUTTER MARKET.
DOMINION-AUSTRALIAN TRADE
TARIFF AND RECIPROCAL ARRANGEMENTS.

In reply to a deputation representing the producers, the Minister of Markets, Mr Paterson, said that the matter of tariff and reciprocal arrangements with New Zealand concerning the importation of New Zealand butter to Australia was under consideration by the Cabinet. It was probable that a Minister would process! to the Dominion at an early date to confer with the New Zealand ministry on the matter. The deputation said that the dairy farmers throughout Australia were concerned about the prospective importations by speculators of New Zealand butter.
The increased duty came into operation on Juno 15, and already there was New Zealand butter in the cool stores in Australia awaiting sale at- prices below those ruling for Australian butter.—Press Association.
