The Rev. Harold T. Peat lias returned to Palmerston North and will resume his ministry at Cuba Street Church on Sunday. The death is announced from Hobart of Ur. Edgar Ravenswood Waite, formerly Curator of the Canterbury Museum, Christchurch, aged 62 years. Mr G. E. Bunting, manager in Australia and New Zealand for the Canadian Mercantile Marine, arrived from Sydney by the Maunganui this week on Messrs. A. H. Holder, V. G. Hunter, H. Nicolas, P. A. Page and R. G. Wall have been elected trustees of the Kuku drainage district in the county of Horowhcnua.

A London cable message reports that Mr N. Nichols, who recently was appointed Foreign Office liaison officer for New Zealand, embarks on the steamer Ormonde on January 21.

The death has occurred .at Hamilton of Constable John Moore Fleming, agbd 52 years. The deceased gentleman joined the Police Force 21 years .ago and prior to his death he was stationed at Arapuni. The death has occurred, states a Press Association message from Auckland, of Mrs Jane Bollard, of Avondale, the wife of the late Mr John Bollard, M.P., and the mother of the late Hon. Richard Bollard, Minister for Internal Affairs. The deceased lady was 89 years of age.

The Hon. C. E. Magrath. M.L.C., of New South Wales, arrived in the Dominion from Sydney this week. Ho is a strong supporter of Labour, and was appointed to the Legislative Council by the Lang Administration. Mr Magrath is on a short holiday visit.

Captain. C. C. Best, of tho' Malay States Survey Department, arrived at Auckland by the Maunganui from Sydney tbs week. Captain Best was born in Auckland and has lived in the Malay States for a number of years. He is accompanied by Mrs Best and their daughter, .and will spend a holiday in the Dominion.
