LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP Per Press Association. TE AWAMUTU, Dec. 17. The amateur lightweight wrestling championship of the Dominion was decided last night at a tournament conducted by the Young Men’s Institute. There were ten competitors, including C. E. McDonald, of Raetihi, the pre.sent champion, but he was defeated in the first round by Tim Wenham, of Te Awamutu. The finalists .were T. Wenham and T. Tanner, of Turakina. Each registered a fall, but Tanner secured the championship on points, a wellearned victory. The decisions of the referee, Mr Tennant Colledge, were well received.
A special bout between W. Bayne, Te Awamutu, the present light heavyweight champion, and W. Wills, of Auckland, was fast and exciting, but Bayne secured two clean falls in four nimutes.
