business of session. Ter Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 29During the debate on the supplementary estimates in the House of Representatives this afternoon Mr. T. Iv. Sidey (Dunedin South) said that he was sorry that he could not congratulate the Government on the way in which it had handled the business of the session. In former years the supplementary estimates were almost the last thing dene before the Appropriation Bill was brought down, but this year they knew there was important legislation yet to come down. For instance, there was the Finance Bill. Hon. W. Downie Stewart: That will be down to-night. _ Mr Sidey, continuing, said that they were entitled to know what the Government’s loan policy was, but everything was in a state of uncertainty. . Mr Forbes protested against the
House being asked to pass the supplementary estimates without knowing what business was coming before the House. In past years the Prime Minister was able to indicate the course to be pursued and when the session would cud.
Sir Joseph Ward said that before the supplementary estimates came before the House they should have been sent to the finance committee where they could be carefully examined.
