SHANNON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, Nov. 29.

Shannon bowlers lost the Manson and Barr Clip to Eketahuna on Saturday by 19 points to 22. Eketahuna were represented by Hooper, Amundson, Stenberg and Hornblow (skip), and Shannon by H. Butt, White, Tunning and Gagliardi (skip). On the 17th head Eketahuna were leading by 22 to 7 and it appeared to bo an easy win. On the 18th,' however, the local rink got 6, making their score 13. On the 19th head Shannon scored 4. and on the 20th head again scored 1, making the game 18-22. Wanting four to retain the cup —a draw being in the holders’ favour —Gagliardi was forced to make the last head a “dead” one. On the replay Shannon were 4 up when the last bowl of Eketahuna saved the position by leaving only ono point to Shannon. Eketahuna deserved their win, and on the day’s play would have been very unlucky had they lost. Blackwood, Burns, Braun and Shannon will represent the local club for the Takaro Cup at Palmerston North next Wednesday. Mrs Cowley, of Foxton, who was visiting Mr 3 C. C. Franks, of Shannon, last week returned home at the week-end.

Mrs Wm. Brown,of Plimmer Terrace, has been compelled to enter a Levin hospital. As an evidence of the rapidly approaching completion of the Mnngahao hydro-electric-works the services of over 50 men will be dispensed with at the end of the month.
