NIGHT CLUB RAID.
WHERE ROYALTY GOES
DETECTIVES’ RUSE
LONDON, Nov. 13. The West End’s most exclusive night club, the Chez Victor, which is often patronised by Royalty, was raided early yesterday morning. Twenty detectives in faultless evening clothes arrived in motors and sat at tables, courteously allowing the dance to finish, and meanwhile taking a note of the champagne glasses. They took the names of everyone present. The management states that champagne was served before the closing hour.
Those present included peers, members of Parliament .and leading actresses.
The Victor is a tiny club with a maximum attendance of 50, but the membership is mainly drawn from Court and diplomatic circles. The detectives,' it later appeared, faked a motor collision, and when the doorkeeper hastened to ask if ho could help the detectives slipped through the unguarded door.
