FIRE AT WELLINGTON
UNFORTUNATE OCCUPANT.

WELLINGTON, Nov. 29. Fire almost completely destroyed a nine-roomed house at Island Bay at 4 a.m.
Mr George Baxter, a fisherman, who occupied a top portion, 6aved a little of his effects. He lias been particularly unfortunate of late. Coming over from Picton, he lost a young son. Within a short time after that he was laid up with pleurisy and ho was one of three men who nearly lost their lives when the launch, Norna, went down near the Heads a short time ago. The premises were owned by Mrs Baxter. The building was insured for £I6OO and the contents, owned by Mr Baxter, for £l5O. Mr Routhwaite, the occupant of the lower portion of the building, had a policy for £l5O on his effects.
