SETTLER’S DEATH.
SHOT THROUGH MOUTH. Per Press Association. WAIPUKURAU, Nov. 28. The body of Charles Lewis, a wellknown resident and settler of the district, and formerly member of Parliament for Christchurch and Courtney, was found this morning outside a window of his home with a rifle between his legs, the shot having passed through his mouth and back of his head. He had lately been in a weak state of health. His family heard a shot fired about seven o’clock. Death was instantaneous. He leaves a widow and four daughters and three sons. An inquest will be held tomorrow.
