£IOOO FOR POLICE.
EXPOSED TO DANGER. MELBOURNE, Aug. 23. A mystery donor of £IOOO to the Police Benevolent Fund revealed himself to-day. He is Mr J. Alston Wallace of Bombula, Wonganella, New South Wales. Ho says that as a special constable he was brought face to face with hourly danger to which the members of the force were exposed, and it was this that induced him to make the gift.
