Rayworth, C. S. Humphries, A. J. Kellow, A. C. McCorkindale, S. G. Stedman, P. B. Desmond and the secretary, G. J. Fitz•patrick. Mr J. G. Eliott, M.P., was also present and paologies for absence were received from Mr V. E. Smith and Mr J. Campbell. CORRESPODNENCE. From the Wellington Chamber of Commerce forwarding annual report.— Received. From Professor B. E. Murphy agreeing to deliver a lecture on “The causes of and the remedies of the present unemployment in New Zealand” at the annual meeting of the chamber in October.—Received with thanks. From the Post and Telegraph Department advising of the tenders which had been invited for the mail contracts in the district. The chairman observed that the chamber should keep an eye on the contracts covering the district.—Received. From the Associated Chambers of Commerce stating that the Daylight Saving Bill would shortly come before the House and asking that the chamber request the member for the district to support the bill.—Mr Eliott said that he was absolutely opposed to the bill in that he considered it detrimental to the farmers’ interests.—Mr Kellow moved that the chamber support the bill, but Mr Fitzpatrick was opposed to this and as an amendment moved that the Associated Chambers be informed that the local chamber could not support the bill.—The chairman ruled the amendment out of order as being a direct negative and the motion was carried. GENERAL. In view of the fact that the Borough Council were making many alterations and improvements at Johnston Park, Mr Kellow asked what conveniences, etc., were being erected for camping motorists and other holiday makers. Mr McCorkindale said it was the intention of the Borough Council to set aside a particular piece of the park for motorists and other campers, but he thought it would be just as well if the chamber reminded the council, while the ground was being remodelled, of the conveniences that were necessary at the park. On the motion of Mr Kellow it was decided to remind the Borough council of the nearness of the holiday season and ask that early consideration be given to the preparation of Johnston Park as a camping site. A suggestion to have the name of the park altered to either Guthrie or Harford Park was held over till next meeting to allow the secretary to make enquiries concerning the conditions laid down in the gift of the park by the late Dr. Johnston.

Mr Desmond brought up the question of the Feilding-Kopane mail service. Letters posted in Feilding to Kopane ing the morning, he said, did not reach Kopane till two days later owing to the fact that the mail had to go to Palmerston North. Mr Desmond gave instances of how he had posted letters to a person at Kopane and from two to three days had been taken in transit. Mr Desmond thought that the chamber should make some endeavour to have the service rectified. After some discussion the matter was left in the hands of the president and Mr Desmond to wait on the postmaster at Palmerston North in an endeavour to secure a quicker service. “HELLO FEILDING” REVUE. A very pleasant function was held last night in Feilding when members of the chorus of the “Hello Feilding” revue entertained the executive of His Niece Coy. at a social and dance. Mrs A. J- Drew and Mrs H. G. Shakes were hostesses and were assisted by the following men’s committee : Messrs J. H. Coppock, A. Gunn, A. J. Drew and V. Wallis. The function was an unqualified success and reflected great credit on those who had organised it at such short notice. During the evening Mr J. G.
