DEATH OF DR. HAIGH.

Received August 16, 11.50 a.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 16.

The death has occurred of Dr. Thomas Haigh, the well-known musician and composer, who was organist at the Anglican Cathedral in Sydney. —Press Association.

Dr. Haigh visited Palmerston North in about September of last year, and was then an examiner to the Associated Board of the Royal Academy. On that occasion he gave a very interesting organ recital at All Saint’s. Dr. Haigh was a very clever composer and ranked as one of England’s foremost musicians. Besides being organist at the Sydney Cathedral, Dr. Haigh was also lecturer in music at the university in the N.S.W. capital.
