SEAPLANE’S LONG TRIP. AIR MINISTER AT OSLO. TO VISIT DANISH AIR SHOW. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received August 15, 1.10 p.m. . RUGBY, Aug. 14. The British Air Minister, Sir Samuel Hoaro, who is travelling in one of tlie Royal Air Force seaplanes which left Felixstowe yesterday on a month’s Scandinavian tour, reached Oslo yesterday evening. The flight was made at an average speed of 100 miles an hour. Heavy rain was encountered along the Dutch coast. Sir Samuel Hoare is the guest of the British Minister, and Captain RitserLarsen, of the Royal Norwegian Navy, and well-known polar explorer, has been attached to him. He intends to visit the Danish aero show at Copenhagen, after which he may return home in one of the seaplanes, leaving the others to complete the tour. After this cruise some of the new British flying boats will be submitted to a more drastic test in tropical conditions. They will be sent on an extended cruise 'East, tho prime objective being Singapore. The flying boats, which are named Iris, Valkyrie and Southampton, are remarkable for their great range. The Iris and Valkyrie each fitted with three Condor engines of 700 horsepower, and, Southampton has two Napier Lion engines. Tho Southampton has a record to its credit of having “taxied,” without leaving the surface of the water, from Felixstowe to Southampton, a distance of 180 miles. —British official wireless.
