GOLD SHIPMENTS.
TO ADJUST BANK BALANCES

Last week the Commonwealth Bank shipped to America £2,000,000 worth of gold, including £500.000 worth of new gold from the New Guinea fields. The shipments were made in _ order to adjust the hank balances, owing to the imports being so much above the value of the exports.—Press Association.
