FEILDING NEWS.
(Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, June 16. A large gathering of friends assembled last evening to farewell Mr E. C. Wood, who is leaving to take up his residence in Wellington. In presenting the guest with a well-filled wallet, Mr L. I'. McLean paid a tribute, to Mr Wood’s popularity and expressed regret at his departure. Others of the assembly spoke in similar vein after which Mr Wood suitably replied. Mr E. Douglas Taylor, supervisor of music in the State schools, arrived in Feilding yesterday on a short visit to the local schools. He visited the Lytton Street School yesterday afternoon and last night gave a lecture to teachers at the Manchester Street School. He inspected the latter intitution this afternoon. It is possible that Mr Taylor may visit one or two country schools before returning to Wellington on Friday. Tho Hinekoa Ladies’ Club sent the following team to Taihape to-day to take part in the tournament: I. Tuppicicli, M. Read, N. Bourke, W. Dewe, M. Wilkie. M. Benson, B. Dewe, B. Campbell. E. Worsfold, F. Waterworth and D. Worsfold.
