De Valeraites 44 Sinn Fein 5 Independents 12 Total 61 The Times states that Free State Ministers, while disappointed with the results or the elections, will face the situation without alarm. Undoubtedly the new Dail' will meet according to plan on June 23, and arrangements are being made for ensuring a safe constitutional majority for Air Cosgrave’s Government. —Times.

DIFFICULT SITUATION

LONDON, June 15. The Daily Telegraph says: “If the Republicans, despite the fact that they fought the elections against the oath, decide to take it, on the pretext that that is the best way to get rid of it, a difficult situation will be created, as Mr Cosgrave will be driven to seek an effective coalition. It is hoped, there.fore, that for the sake of Free State peace the Republicans will continue in a state of desperate intransigeance, and by still refusing to enter the Dail, make it easier for Air Cosgrave to pursue his courageous task.” Air de that the Republicans will claim their seats.
