LARGE TRANSACTION. ■ PORTION OF WEMBLEY GROUNDS BOUGHT. LARGEST COVERED CONCRETE BUILDING IN WORLD. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received June 16, 9.50 a.m. LONDON, June 15.British Incorporated Pictures have bought for £147,500 sterling 35 acres of the Wembley Exhibition grounds, including the Palace of Engineering, the Hall Lake, half of Kingsway with the neighbouring gardens, the north entrance building and the exhibition hank. Mr Ralph Pugh, the managing director, says that the Palace of Engineering is the largest covered concrete building in the world, enabling it to be made the world’s largest film studio. Thirty film shooting spaces will be available simultaneously. The outdoor scenes will be filmed in the lake gardens. There is a possibility of producing 150 films yearly which will be Britain’s answer to tho other’s challenge. Filming begins in January. Mr Pugh adds: “One of Wembley’s greatest assets is the publicity value as it is known throughout the world and the name awakens memories of many associations.” —Australian Press Association and Sun cable.
