AUCKLAND, April 23. The steamer lhumata from Newcastle, iound for Gisborne, put into Auckiii d to land a seaman named James Thomas who, during a heavy gale oil April 16, while lashing a barrel of oil t< a rail, was hurled against the winch nd seriously injured, apparently ii ternally. All S iturday night and Sunday a fierce g le was encountered and the decks l ere continually flooded. The weather did not moderate until Tuesday. Cne sea carried away the binnacle o . the after steering gear and the log was lost. Minor damago was sustain 1 on deck.
