ADMIRALTY UNDECIDED. STRONG HOPE FOR AUSTRALIA. Received April 23, 9.10 a.m. LONDON, April 22. The Admiralty is experiencing considerable difficulty in deciding oil the canned meat contract. It is obvious that South America has severely cut the prices, but th'e department is impressed by the press insistence for Dominion preference, and the adverse comment in the House of Commons on Argentina getting the last contract. The matter has beeii referred to the supreme head of the Admiralty contracts to decide. There is a strong hope that Australia will finally be favoured. —A. and N.Z. cable.
