FEILDING STOCK SALE.

IMPROVED QUALITY IN SHEEP. (Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, April 23. The quantity of sheep yarded, at the Feilding stock sale yesterday was considerably below that which has been coming .forward _of late, but the quality was a distinct improvement. Fat sheep were inclined to be on the light side and the prices obtained were not out of .the ordinary. The store pens were stocked with some very well finished lines of ewe and wether lambs, a pen of the former realising 255: Bidding in the sheep section was of a brisk order throughout and a total clearance was effected. The cattle section suffered a drop towards the close of the sale, buyers not operating very freely, although'a good average selection of material was at their disposal. Fat cattle only commanded medium attention and fairly low prices, while store stock sold at the usual low figures. Prices were as follow;

AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having i. very fair entry of sheep and a small yarding of cattle. There was a good demand and practically all lines were cleared. Quotations: Fat ewes, 14s sd: empty ewes, 8s 6d, 9s 9d, to 11; 2d.; M.A. breeding ewes, 12s 9d to 13s; mixed w f lambs, 13s 6d; wether lambs, 13s 7d; vealers, M 12s 6d; empty cows, £2 8s to £2 12s 6d; light frit cows, £5 15s; 3-year steers, £6 15s. , Ababam and Williams, Ltd., report: A fair yarding of both sheep and cattle came forward, including a fair number or fat sheep and lambs. The sheep sale was brisk and cattle sold at late rates. WESTFIELD QUOTATIONS. * BETTER PRICES FOR CALVES. BEEF AND MUTTON STEADY. There was again little change in the values of most classes of fat stock at tho Westfield sale on Wednesday. Beef came forward in average numbers and prices were firm at last week’s quotations. The sheep pens were well filled with satisfactory, quality mutton, for which there was a steady demand at prices similar to those of last week. The market for calves was an exception to the general rule of the sale, prices showing a considerable advance. There was a small offering, for which bidding was animated. .Pigs were in plentiful supply but there wa6 a steady demand a little above recent prices, especially for good baconers.

THE STOCK MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report a small yarding of both sheep and cattle at the weekly sale held in Dannevirke on Thursday. The company’s share of the yarding comprised mostly empty ewes and wethers. Quotations are as follow; —Forward ewes, 11s 3d to 12s; 2-th wethers, 16s to 18s; 4-th wethers, 18s; ewes run with s.d. rams, 16s 7d; w.f. wether lambs. 11s 6d; w.f. ewe lambs, 12s 8d; s.d. rams, 14s to 30s.

WELLINGTON PRODUCE MARKET [By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.] WELLINGTON, April 23. On tho produce market business generally is good. Wheat, in line with southern developments, is inclined to be firmer. Quotations are 6s lid to 7s for fowl feed lines with the probability of hardening. There is more liveliness in oats which show a firming tendency. A grade has increased to between 3s 7d and 3s 9d- per "bushel. B grade arc 2d less with ample supplies of under grade oats at 3s 3d to 3s sd. Bran.—£7 10s to £B. Pollard.—£lo per ton. Chaff.—£7 to £7 10s. Potatoes are inclined to be easier, prices having receded about £1 pel ton. Quotations: £6 to £7 according to quality. , . Onions have fallen back sh.Sht y, mainly owing to the soft quality of recent arrivals from the south. They are quoted at 6s lOd to is per cwt. BRADFORD WOOL MARKET LONDON, April 21. Bradford tops are quiet. Spinners are showing little interest, expecting somewhat lower prices.
