LONDON MARKETS.
i LONDON, April 5. Wheat cargoes are dead, apart from small inquiry from the Continent. Quotas tions occasionally are lower. A cargo by the Sagoland has been sold to the Continent at 52s 9d per quarter. Parcels are in small demand, and prices are easier. Liverpool futures: May 10s 2fd per cental: July, 10s l|d; October, 9s IOJd. —A. and N.Z. cable.
SALE OF POLO PONIES.
Levin and Co., Ltd., Feilding, report:—On Saturday at the Feilding raceoourse, we held a sale of polo ponies on account of several members playing in the tournament. _ Many ponies were passed in, the chief sales being made on account of members of the Waibou team whose ponies were keenly competed for. Untried ponies were not sought after. We quote on account of J. N. Spence, 6-year mare Cora to D. H. Riddiford, £6O; 4-year mare Trinket to G. H. Grigg, South Island, £BS; aged mare Resdiant to E. E. TARANAKI OILFIELDS REPORT.
(Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 6. The Taranaki Oilfields, Ltd., report that the Waiapu No. 2 well has been drilled to 905 ft. iln dark grey 6hale. The 12in. casing is down to 800 ft.. and has struck water, which rose to 200 ft. from the surface. At the Taranaki No. 3 well the erection of the rig has been completed. Preparations are being made to stprt drilling at the Gisborne No. 1, where an excavation of the site has been commenced. «•
