WIFE TELLS MAGISTRATE,
WAIHI, April 5.
At tho Magistrate’s Court to-day, Mary EeU proceeded against Robert Bell for the payment of maintenance. Counsel for defendant said an offer had been made to pay £lO per month instead of £ls on account of defendant’s altered circumstances.
Plaintiff (from the witness box): “The Magistrate is perhaps not aware that there is another lady provided for with a home in Auckland, and there are three children.” In answer to counsel, defendant admitted this, and said he had not attempted to keep the fact from his wife. Tho Magistrate said defendant had undertaken new liabilities. He was not satisfied that defendant could not pay £ls a month. An order was made accordingly, including back maintenance. Costs were one guinea allowed.
