PARTICIPATION IN JUBILEE. ) OVER 800 REPLY. To jfche town’s invitation to participate in the jubilee celebrations, over 800 eld identities have responded—leavii; no room for doubt that the early pioneers of the district still have the interests of the district at heart. The pioneers were asked to sate the date i>n which they arrived in the Mpnavatu, and the replies show that, while about 250 can claim to have taken up theii residence some time between 1870 and 1880, there are apparen ly only a few remaining who settle! before that time. Amlng the earliest settlers were the followng: —Mrs E. Simpson, November 1 , 1853; Mrs Vm, Anderson, of Palnu rston North, arrived at Foxton, Febnury, 1855; J. H. Staff (Foxton), Marc 15, 1855; John Kebbell (Levin), Januity., 1857; Mrs A. E. Nash, of Palm rston North, arrived at Foxton 1860;]_M. Liddell (Foxton), 1865; Tai Toko Matai (Palmerston North), born 1865; Robert Bevan (Manakau), born 1866; Albert Howe (Foxton), January 867; John McEwen (Tiakitahunaf December, 1868; J. R. Whyte (Foxton), November, 1869.
