ACCOUNTANCY CLASSES
AT LOCAL TECHNICAL SCHOOL. GRANT FROM NEW ZEALAND SOCIETY. Mr Reginald Davis, F.P.A., N.Z., representative for Wellington North on the council of the New Zealand Society. of Accountants, who has just r e * turned from the half-yearly meeting of that body, states that the society has congratulated the director and staff of the Palmerston North Technical School on the successes that have been achieved during the two years the accountancy > classes > have been in existence, j and, as a tangible mark of its appreciation, it decided to increase the annual grant from £4O to £6O. That the school secured nine partial passes in the recent accountancy examinations was a source pf much satisfaction to the council. The proposal of the director to add mercantile law (stage 2), book-keeping (stage 2) and auditing to the curriculum, , thus enabling the school to provide the fbll course for the professional examinations, was heartily endorsed. Commenting further on the matter, Mr Davis said that the classes were commenced at Palmerston North two years ago as an experiment towards assisting in their studies country students who were unable to attend university lectures. That the experiment has been a success, he said, is fully justified by the results.
