The committee of the Manawatu Highland Pipe Band are indebted to those townspeople who, on New Year’s Eve subscribed to the funds of the band. Several thefts of Christmas poultry occurred in Sydney suburb on the evening of December 23. The biggest “bag” was 100 pullets, worth £25, which were stolen from Henry Whiting, Nielson street, Matraville.
