DOMINIONS’ COMMON IDEALS
SPEECH BY MR S. M. BRUCE
Received Jnnuary 4, 12.50 p.m. OTTAWA, Jan. 4. Air Bruce addressed a capacity audience at the Canadian Club luncheon on Afonday, which was attended by the Premier, Air AlcKenzie King, and members and ex-members of the Cabinet. Tire Australian Prime Minister was acclaimed with resounding cheers at the beginning and conclusion of his speech, which dealt mainly, with the common ideals and responsibilities of the nations of the Empire and the preservation of peace in the common interests of humanity. Ho alluded to the unstinted sacrifices of Canada and Australia in the Great Wnr. They bad fought for a common cause and the great principles for which the Empire stood. Air Bruce declared that our task now was to givo practical effect to the Imperial Conference spirit; to make stronger tho unity which binds us all together. He added: “Wo with you are jealous of our autonomous rights, aild with you wo are determined to remain within the Empire.”—A. and N.Z. cable.
