ENGINE JUMPS THE RAILS
NO CASUALTIES
THAMES, July 23. A petrol locomotive with a rake of 12 trucks, laden with metal, bolted down an incline leading to the hopper at Matatoki yesterday afternoon. Two points wero safely negotiated, but as the train ran up the last portion of the ramp to tho hopper the engine le.t the rails and turned round. It now liangs balanced over the edge of the ramp The driver was able to step oft tins engine uninjured, but lie had an extremely narrow escane from serious injury, asp a few inches more and the engine would have fallen to the ground, a distance of 301 t.
