WATER IN A MINE.
HUNDRED FEET DEEP. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) AUCKLAND, July 22. There is no immediate prospect of the Hikurangi Coal Company's mine resuming operations owing to the delay in the arrival of the generator. It is stated that the flood water has risen considerably, and that it is now 100 feet deep in the mine. When the necessary pumps have been installed the work entailed in removing the water will occupy about a month. Relief work for the unemployed miners is being found in various parts of the district.
