THE SECOND TEST
COMMENCES TO-DAY, .WICKET IN GOOD ORDER. PREPARATIONS AT LORD’S. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received June 26, 11.30 a.m. " . LONDON, June 25. _ The pitch at Lord’s is as good as it was in 1921, and if no rain falls it will be a perfect batsman’s wicket for the test match. It will take a great deal of rain to make it sticky. Even if it should rain heavily the wicket will not bo covered, but should a deluge make it a quagmire there are two other pitches to fall back upon, one of which is never watered, so there is sure to be a good wicket in any case.—A. and N.Z. cable.
The second test cricket match between Australia and England commences to-day at Lord’s.
