OBITUARY.

MRS T. RANFORD Death this week removed a Christian worker in tho person of Mrs T. Hanford, of Te Matai, wife of Mr T. Hanford, senr. The deceased lady, who had reached the age of 68 years, was born in Wales and came to the Dominion with her husband in 1880, settling in Christchurch, where they resided for a number of years, afterwards removing to Melbourne. Later they returned to New Zealand and for nine years resided in Taranaki, where their two sons —Mr Thomas and the late Mr Frank Ranford—were farming in partnership. Sovoral years ago they removed to Whakarongo, where Mr T. Ranford, junr, Lad taken up land. Of a kind and lovable disposition, the deceased lady had always displayed a great interest in young people s work and had conducted classes wherever she had resided. On the death of * her son Frank a year ago, she sustained a shock from which she never fully, recovered, and in her passing much sympathy has been extended the bereaved husband and. Mr iunr. The interment took place at the Palmerston North cemetery on Thursday, when a largo sent to pay a last tribute to deceased s memory. ~ MR JOSEPH HOUGHTON. There passed away suddenly at his late residence, Ruahine street, yesterday,Mr Joseph Houghton, at the _ age of 60 years. The deceased arrived from England six years ago, and is survived by his wife and family, of whom two daughters,' Mesdames Johnson (Palmerston North) and G. Ashton (North Auckland) are the only ones resident in New Zealand. Mrs G. Bell (Huntl.v) and Mrs G. Ashton (Palmerston North) are sisters of deceased. His son, Mr J. Houghton, resides in England.
