Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. June 25,
Tho decision of the Football Association Council to abandon the English trophy competition has caused a sensation. The Auckland Association met this moiming and decided to wire to the council as follows: “Exceedingly regret decision re English trophy. We are prepared rather than to see the competition drop to give tho use of Blandford Park and charge what you consider reasonable. Copies of this wire have been sent to Wellington, Otago and Canterbury, asking concurrence in order that the competition may proceed.” Wellington, who have reserved July 3, offered terms for a friendly game. The local inanageineni committco deferred a decision peiidiiig the reply of the council, but the feeling is that the match will probably bo abandoned if it does not count as an English trophy game.
