WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. At the afternoon call yesterday of the Wellington Stock Exchange sales wero reported of Bank of New South Wales shares (three parcels) at £45 ss, Bank of New Zealand at 635, and Union Steam preference at 20s. Government stocks and bonds were steady and unchanged, with buyers of the 4$ per cents, at £96 10s, the 5 per cents at £9B 10s, and the 51 per cents, at £99 7s 6d. Bank shares were very firm. There were bids of £l4 5s 6d for Bank of Australasia shares, 31s 6d for Commercial Bank ordinary, 62s 9d for Bank of New Zealand, a rise of 3d, £ls 6s 6d for Union Bank, a rise of 6d, £8 2s for English, Scottish and Australian Bank, a rise of 2s, and £lB for National Bank of Australasia shares £lO paid, a rise of 3s. Sellers quoted £45 7s 6d for Bank of New South Wales shares. Wellington Trust and Loan shares were steady at £6 7s. Gas shares wero in fair demand, with buyers of Auckland Gas at 23s 9d, and Wellington Gas, ordinary, at 275. Insurance shares were quiet, but firm. There were bids of £3 18s 9d for National Insurance.and 41s for New Zealand Insurance, the latter showing an advance of Is. New Zealand Refrigerating shares, 10s paid, were in demand at 8s 2d, and Wellington Meat Export at 4s 6d. Huddart-Parker ordinary shares were steady at 44s 9d, Union Steam preference at 19s lid,, and Kolburn Tramway ordinary at 265. Wellington Woollen preference shares were firm at. £6 8s 6d. There were buyers of Leyland-O’Brien Timber at 425. National Timber at 17s, Colonial Sugar at £54, Electrolytic ,Zinc at 365, and Wilson’s Cement at 34s 3d.
