Randolph Rose, the New Zealander, in a challenge match of two miles, at Brighton, against the southern fourmile champion, Muggridge, won by inches in the last few yards. Time, 9min 32 3-osec. Rose and Muggridge both started off scratch, and keenly contested every step. They sprinted, all out, side by side, for the last 300 yards.—A. and N.Z. cable.
