TONY LEAPING COMPETITIONS. (To tho Editor.) Sir, —Would you allow me to pass my opinion upon tho pony leaping competitions in the recent show at Palmerston North. Firstly, why. is there no separate class for the little lassies? I noticed them in a class with a pony of De Wet style. Now, is that fair to them, I ask? All due praise to De Wet, but he has a style of his own, and the lassies should not be asked to compete against him. It is very disheartening for them. I noticed that some of the ponies jumped in good style, not even tipping the hurdles. Then again in the bending they had to compete against men and last, but not least, in the above-men-tioned pony leaping.' One pony was ridden by a man verging on thirty. Give the children a chance, and chiefly our little lassies, otherwise their entries will drop off. —I am, etc., A VISITOR. Hamilton, Juno 21, .1926. THE DON COSSACK CHOIR. (To the Editor.) Sir, —May I through the medium of your paper impress upon tho musical public of this district the importance of not omitting to hear the famous choir of the Don Cossacks. Palmerston North accorded the Sheffield Choir and the Sistine Choir adequate support, and appreciated their efforts. The Don Go&sack Choir can, from my own knowledge, compare more than favourably with either of the choirs mentioned above, and should be greeted by a full house when they appear hero on Friday.—l am, etc., J. HOLMES RUNNICLES.
