ITALIANS AT MANGAHAO.
STATEMENT BY MINISTER. Per Pres* Aisociation. WELLINGTON, June 23. Hon. K. S. Williams, Minister of Works, speaking in the House of Representatives after midnight, _ replied to the charge that Italians in large numbers had been taken on at Mangaliao to the detriment of British workmen. He said he had made inquiries and found that 42 .Italians were employed there, but most of them had been there for nearly four years and no discrimination had been shown by the department.
