PENALTY ON A CLUB.
PETITION FOR REMISSION. [By Telegraph—Special to Standard.] WELLINGTON. .Juno 22. Parliament is being asked by petition to remit a penalty of £69 which was imposed upon the Timaru Trotting Club through failure to pay £139“) in the way of totalisator and other duties on the due date following its meeting on March 13 last. The omission, it was claimed, was due to the fact that the information necessary for computation did not arrive till very late and after that the secretary overlooked the matter through stress of work. There was no mention of penalty on the forms.
