ALLEGED THEFT

HOTELKEEPER BEFORE COURT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 22. A further development in connection with a daring daylight robbery on June 12, when 'a considerable quantity of spirits was removed from the bonded warehouse of L. D. Nathan and Co., Ltd., occurred to-day, when Michael Keady, licensee of the Britomart Hotel, was arrested in connection with the matter. Keady was taken to the Magistrate’s Court and charged, in conjunction with Horace Vincent Byrne Speight, who appeared before the court last week and was remanded, with breaking and entering the warehouse with intent to commit theft; with stealing liquor valued at £77 Is lOd; and also with receiving liquor knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained. In addition Speight alone was charged with the theft of a quantity of liquor, valued at £24 10s 4<L

On the application of Senior-Ser-geant Hammond a remand was granted until Monday, bail being fixed at £2OO, with one surety of £2OO.
