COLOUR CURES

MYSTERIOUS GIFT. HOAV IT OPERATES. It is generally agreed now that colours have certain definite effects upon tho mental and nervous system (writes the Countess of AVestmoreland in an exchange). Most people, for instance aro soothed by green, while blue, golden yellow, and orange have a stimulating influence. Red, on the other hand, is usually irritating. It has been discovered that men and women work bettor when surrounded by pleasant colours, the simplo expedient of painting machines blue and yellow, instead of a dull grey, having resulted in increased output. I first became interested in colourhealing through a former singing teacher, and later I attended a lecture by an expert, a woman who could read one’s character and disposition in the colour aura surrounding one’s body. She quickly singled mo out for attention, and publicly announced that I had a power of colour-healing which would bring relief whenever I chose to exercise it. Naturally, I was astonished, but 1 felt that if I really possessed this mysterious gift it was my duty to make use of it. Before long I had an opportunity of putting tlie matter to the test, for I heard, of a friend who had been suffering from a throat affection for several months, and had had a number of operations without' being cured. I mentioned nothing to lnm concerning my intention; until I had achieved something. I felt thnt it was better to work quietly and not to raise hopes. . The procedure was quite simple. For a few minutes each day I projected my imagination to his throat, swathing it, in my mind’s eye, in a -gauze of beautiful blue, the colour of hope and brightness, and endeaiouring to will that it should vitalise and heal. In a week or two tho sufferer was completely cured, and I learned that ho began to get better on tho day I began to use the powers which I had been told I possessed. One of the most remarkable cases was that of a man who was a victim of neurasthenia in a severe form. He was almost a nervous wreck, and appeared to have little interest in lile. I was asked to go and see him, and I did so. But ho regarded mo rather as a nuisance than otherwise, and when I told him that I intended to help him in my own way, and that probably before long he would be cured, ho said he had no faith in such things, and that I would only waste my time. But I determined to make an effort, and on reaching -home I set to work. My method was a little different in this case. In my imagination I laid a carpet of gorgeous sapphire blue from the garden gate to his house/ It spread over the whole of the path, and seemed to radiato rays of gaiety and cheerfulness. Then I filled the house itself with shimmering blue. It was in every room, every , nook and cranny, and as I pictured it I could see joy and brightness. , Finally, I completed this symphony of healing blue by covering the sufferer himself not only with the same colour, but with a mantle of golden yellow. For a few days I continued this projection of colour rays, and then I went to see tho patient. He met me at tho station in his motor car, and it was instantly apparent that he was a completely changed man. He laughed and joked and told mo of all sorts of plans for the. future. From a broken-down human being without an object in life ho had become a healthy man of action, master of himself, and full of tho most precious possession .of all —hope. , My brother suffered for a long time from a poisoned finger. He was in agonies of pain. The whole day long ho had to hold liis finger in hot water in order to relieve tho torture; at night he obtained practically no sleep. I telephoned to his wife that I would try to help him. He sent a message that he did not think I could, but he would be grateful for anything I could do. I surrounded tho finger with imaginary ■wrappings of blue, and for a few moments I pictured it in a magnificent setting of colour. The effect upon my brother was instant, for the pain immediately decreased, and the same night ho slept better than he had slept for many weeks. I continued the treatment, and within a short time the finger lvas completely cured. It all seems mysterious, but there is no doubt to my mind that somo of us, probably without knowing it, do possess the power to throw out colour rays that Leal.
