Mr W. H. Gimblett, of Mangawhata, left this afternoon for a ten days’ _ visit to the Taranaki district. He will make an inspection of various dairy factories and pedigree herds during his absence. The friends of Mr F. S. Mcßae, who is at present an inmate of a Wellington hospital, will be pleased to learn that he is making satisfactory progress. Auckland passengers on the Niagara, which arrived at Auckland yesterday, included Mr William Backhaus, the noted German pianist, who is on his way to Australia, after which he will return to New Zealand; Mr Ronald Chamberlain, examiner of the Trinity College of Music, who will spend six months in the North Island ; Stanislaus Zbysko, the world’s champion wrestler; and four members of the Dunedin Rotary Club, who are returning from the Honolulu conference —Messrs J. Fletcher, R. G. Hudson, H. Guthrie and J. Brown.
