BOWLING CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Foxton Bowling Club was hold on Tuesday night, presided over by tho president (Rev. \V I] Walton). In moving the. adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the president said that the past year had not been very successful Many factors had militated agninst it. The. overdraft at the bank had only been reduced by £2. During the year ’the club had lost one or two members and, the membership being limited, the club could not afford such losses. He hoped that during Ihe coining season the membership would bo increased. Providing that was done the club would be better off financially and socially. Mr Christie; in speaking to the report, said that, the past season had, financially and socially, been unsatisfactory. There must be a reason for this. Some had nltributed the cause to the bad condition ol the green. Personally, he thought it mw due to the fact, chat new members h.-ul been neglected and the work of the club left: lo one or two to do. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers for (he ensuing year resulted as follows: President. Mr Pcrreau; vice-presidents, Messrs Walton Christie and Barr; committee, Alo.-sri Thomson, Walker, James Ross. John Ross Downes; secretary and treasurer, Mr Win! Stanley; green committee, Messrs Huntley, Woods anil Nye; auditor Air G. F. Smith; delegate to centre Mr Christie.; selection committee, Messrs R. Rangilieuea, J. Thomson, J. Barr. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Wliibley for his work in connection with the green and grounds. Air Downes (retiring secretary) was also accorded a similar compliment. ■' A letter was received from the Foxton Tennis Club suggesting a conference of the Tennis, Bowling and Football Clubs with a view to going into the question of raising funds for improvements.—Messrs Barr, Bryant and Woods were elected delegates to represent tho club at the conference. Mr Christie suggested a pairs ladder competition next season. Mr Walker suggested that the ladder be for singles matches. Mr Barr considered the time was not opportune for the deciding of competitions. Mr Brvant moved that tho ladder bo for singles matches. It was decided, however, that (his bo a recommendation lo Iho committee. Mr Winstanley suggested a links ladder for the Nye Ferns. A small charge should be made and four medals presented to the winning rink. The handicapping for the matches should not be made until aftei the rinks had been decided on. In referring to the opening day Air Barr suggested a whole day on the usual Wednesday. Last year tho opening had not been very successful owing to the motor sports. Mr Christie suggested that the committee should get together early and get some work done on the green. Nothing had been done to it'for some months now. The chairman considered the committee should meet more often towards opening day. It was decided that Messrs Jno. Ross, Downes and Nye go into the question of lighting the green by means of electricity and bring down a report to the next meeting. Tho following new members were elected : Alessrs T. G. Yeo and E. Parkin.
