RUN DOWN BY BUS.
AUCKLAND MAN KILLED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 10. While attempting to board a citj corporation motor bus in Mountain road jins evening, Richard Gutteridge, an elderly man, fell into the track of a back wheel and received injuries J which proved fatal within a few minutes. The bus was bound for tbe city, and had pulled up at tbe Owens road stop at about five minutes past six o’clock. Two ladies boarded the bus, and told the driver to wait. The bus was kept standing while Mrs Gutteridge, who resides at 8 Briglitside road, Epsom, bad taken a seat. Thinking that Mrs Gutteridge was tbe passenger for whom be bad been requested to wait, and not knowing that anyone else was going to board the bus, llio driver saw that the step was clear, and released the brakes.
The bus had moved about one length when the driver pulled- up in response to a shout. He descended, and Mr Gutteridge was found lying near the back of. the bus. The injured man was removed to the Slater Miseraerordiae Hospital, but succumbed to bis injuries almost immediately.
