Received April 9, 2.10 p.m. LONDON, April 8. Butter is quietly steady. New Zealand choicest salted_l73s 4d to 1745, unsalted 174 sto 1765. Australian salted 170 s to 1725, unsalted 172 s to 1745. Danish 184 s. , ~, Cheese is quiet. New Zealand white 96s to 975, coloured 97s to 98s. Australian 93s to 95s.—A. and N.Z. cable. ENGLISH MARKETS. Received April 9, 2.15 p.m. LONDON, April 8. Wheat cargoes firmed from 3d to 6d especially those near at hand, on better inquiry and rumours of a reduction in tho Argentine estimate. Parcels aro in strong request. Australians sold at 3d to 8d advance, 57s to 57s 6d. Liverpool futures, May 11s 3id, July 11s 2d, October 10s 7d. The spot is trade fi m. Australian ex ship 59s 6d. Flour is quiet. Tho yarding of beef penned at tho Westfield fat stock salo on Wednesday was a little smaller than that of the previous week. It met with a steady demand and prices were inclined to rise. Extra choice prime ox realised £1 11s per 1001 b; choice and prime ox, from £1 8s to £1 10s; and ordinary and plain ox from £1 5s to £1 7s 6d. Prime young cow and heifer beef brought from £1 3s to £1 7s. A small yarding of sheep met with a good demand and sold at solid prices. Extra heavy prime wethers sold at from £1 12s Od to £1 13s 6d, and medium from £1 8s 6d to £1 10s 3d. There was little change in the prices for lambs, extra heavy primo making from £1 5s 6d to £1 8s 6d. The demand for calves improved somewhat and prices accordingly rose. There was only an average yarding of pigs, and prices rose, heavy baconers making from £4 5s to £4 11s.
