QUEENSLAND ELECTIONS.
OPENING OF CAMPAIGN. BRISBANE, April 8. The first shot in the State election campaign was fired at Toowoomba, when the leader of the Country and National Progressive party delivered his policy speech. Mr Moore said that the people of Queensland had suffered a humiliating experience during the recent railway strike, as the authorities did not lift a finger to uphold the laws of the State. Lawbreakers were encouraged, and so intolerable did the State affairs become, that citizens were compelled to protect their own rights. The whole affair was a travesty on constitutional Government, under which Queensland had suffered for the past ten years. The elections will be held on May 8.
