Sporting Life criticises the University system of boat-race training, whilch, it says, “produces 'artificial and over-fat heavyweights owing to too much nourishment and insufficient work. •. , -. . “Professional coaches would turn out men several pounds lighter and much fitter. Formerly the heavier crews generally won, but recently the lighter crow has been victorious twice in three years.”
