Commenting upon an increase of some £SOO in the amount expended on provisions at the Palmerston North Hospital last year, the secretary, in his schedule of the 192 G-27 estimates presented at tho annual meeting of the board to-day, pointed out that there had been an increase in the number of persons, both staff and patients,' subsisted, while an improved evening meal had been introduced. The average cost per person subsisted at the institution worked out at almost exactly at Is per diem, not allowing for milk and farm produce.
