GERMAN ARMY.
HINDENBURG’S PRAISE
Received April 8. 1.35 p.m. BERLIN, April 7
Tho interesting diamond jubilee of President von Hindenburg’s entry into the Prussian Army was celebrated at the Presidential Palace by a simple and apropriate ceremonial. Replying to tho congratulatory address, President von Hindenburg dwelt in melancholy and painful remembrance on “Our proud old army, which not only honourably fulfilled its purpose of defending the fatherland, but was an educational institution for the entire nation.” Ho was confident that tho present army, despite thfe paucity of its members, would cultivate similar virtues and thereby prove the stronghold of tho national force together with a guarantee of the maintenance of the soldierly qualities of the German nation.—Reuter.
