WALES DEFEATS FRANCE. HARD, FAST GAME. Received April 6, 12.45 p.m. PARIS, April 5. In an internatioanl Rugby match, Walos beat Franco by soven points to five. The attendance was 40,000. It was a hard fast game. Halfway through the first half the French three-quarters participated in a neat movement ending in Gerintes scoring a try between the posts, Gonnet converting. The Welshmen fought strenuously, but mot with stubborn resistance. Tho half-time score was France 5, Wales 0. On resumption the Welsh forwards’ rushing tactics severely taxed their opponents’ defence. From a scrum on the French twenty-five Cornish secured and dropped a goal, and then a mistake by the French full-hack let in R. Jones, who scored an unconverted try. Towards the end tho Frenchmen spurted and there was a fierce struggle on the Welsh twenty-five, but it was ineffective.—Reuter]
