SOCCER TOURNAMNT.

SECOND ROUND AND FIVE-ASIDE

The in connection with tho Easitor Association football tournament, held under the auspices of the local Saint Andrew’s Club, were' played at North Street Park on Saturday. The weather was of a threatening nature all the afternon, and light rain fell at intervals during the games.

ATHLETIC BEAT ST. ANDREW’S. St. Andrew’s won the toss and Athletci had to play against tho strong wind. Tho game was fairly evenly balanced, but St. Andrew’s defenco was weak, and tho match ended in favour of Athletic 3—nil. Tho scorers were J. Walker, F. Hearsey and H. Rainford. Mr Forbes refereed. SEATOUN (3) v RANGERS (3). This game was one of the finest yet played in Palmerston North afld, during tho play, tho spectators were roused to the highest pitch of enthusiasm. Seatoun commenced with a strong win in their favour and soon had the local combination on the defensive. Play was fast and somo scientific football resulted.

McDonald (Rangers) scored first, with a magnificent goal; McKenzie (Seatoun) soon afterwards found £ho net with an equally fine shot. Shortly before the conclusion of 'the first spell Clark scored for the visitors, and the Wellington eleven thus led 2—l. The second spell commenced in spectacular fashion and Galloway registered for tho local players amidst applause. Seatoun continued to attack and McKenzie again scored for his team.

Tho play following was fast, and there was little to choose between tho two combinations. Finally, Rangers secured the ball and, from a difficult angle, McAvinue placed it in the net. The final whistle sounded with the score reading 3 all, and it was decided to play two ten minute spells to decide the winner, but after this period had elapsed and no score resulted, the match was ordered to be replayed on Monday. Mr Crouch refereed.

Tho. winner of this match will meet the local Athletic team in the final for tho competition cup.

FIVE ASIDE.

The first round of a five-aside tournament was commenced during the afternoon. The following were the results: — Brooklyn (2) v. Marist Bros (0). Y.M.C.A. (2) v. Brooklyn (0).
