LEAVING FOR ABROAD AT
EARLY DATE
R. A. Rose, the champion distance runner, definitely made his last appearance in New Zealand at the country clubs’ championships on Saturday. With his parents, who came up from Wellington specially for the meeting, Mr Rose returned to the capital city by the express on Saturday evening, being fiarewcll/ed at the station by members and officials of the Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club. . During their stay hero tlie champion runner and Mr and Mrs Rose, senr. were the guests of Mr and Mrs H. Bodley . . Rose, who will leave the Dominion for Vancouver -by the Aorangi on Tuesday week, gave the local 'athletic club an assurance that, on his return to New Zealand', he would compete at a special meeting to be put on for him here. A sale of Rose badges at the sports resulted in a sum of about £8 being raised.
