RACING NEWS.

FEILDING J.C. MEETING. MANCHESTER HANDICAP TO BRIGHT DAY. MANGAONE FLYING WON BY ORCHID. The first day of the Feilding Jockey Club’s Easter meeting was held on Saturday in fine though cold weather. Recent rains had the effect of freshening up the surroundings, and the floral display in the main enclosure evoked many references of a laudatory character. The attendance was large, including visitors from far and near. Large fields were seen out in nearly all the events, and the racing all through was interesting. The Manchester Handicap went to tho Hamilton-owned Bright Day, and tho son of Day Comet rewarded his supporters with an exceptionally good dividend. The mile and a quarter was cut out in 2.7, so it will be seen there was no loitering on the journey. Allmarimba went well, as did also Imperial Spark, who was not well placed in the early stages. , The other race of importance was the Mangaone Handicap, .which was won decisively by the topweight (9.7) Orchid, from the New Plymouthtrained Quillfire. Rational did not get a good passage, but finished on attractively to secure third honours. The stipendiary steward, Mr Wilson, was present, and after tho contest for the Ongo Hack he carpeted J. Potter, the rider of the winner, Royal Elm, for interference with Royal Land. Ho was, ordered to stand down for the day. In the Orepulci Hack Welter P. Healy, rider of Rapid Fire, was given a month’s rest for alleged interference. The following are the details of the racing:— KAWA KAWA HACK HURDLES, of 200 sovs; second horse 40 and third 20.
