EASTER HOLIDAYS.
MANY ATTRACTIONS. The present Eastertide is characterised by. the carnival spirit in its most pronounced form, the number of sports attractions being exceptionally large. Yesterday in Palmerston North tho Easter bowling and Association football tournaments opened under favourable auspices, while there was also a. cricket match against a Wanganui eleven. The railway traffic was remarkably heavy. The local churches conducted the customary services.
To-day, in addition to the continuation of the bowling and Association football tournaments was the opening of the Easter golf tournament a cricket match between the Palmerston North Colts and Wanganui Technical School Old Boys, some Rugby matches at Terrace End Park against Wanganui teams, and this afternoon the country clubs’ athletic championship, at which Rose is a competitor, was bemg held in tho prosence of a large gathering. This afternoon too, .the Baptist Young Men’s Bible Class campers were conducting a sports meeting, and there was a separate bowling tournament at the Takaro club.
